Happy Monday!
If you're new - hello!
If you're not - welcome back!
We’re two queer journalists curating and writing about all things LGBTQIA+, from India and beyond.
We know we went MIA for an unacceptably long duration of time - over TWO months, in fact! Both of us were dealing with many personal issues, as happens when we live in closed (and largely closeted) quarters at home - we’re sure all you desi queers get it. Add the stress of the pandemic, which is accelerating at a frankly frightening rate in the country, and you’ve got the perfect storm for maximum impact on the mental health of your scribes.
In the meantime, so very much has happened. We missed the second anniversary of the overturning of Section 377 - only two years ago, all non-heterosexual sex acts were still very much illegal in India.
So to make up for missing time, we’ve got a Franken-issue coming for you this Wednesday, packed with news highlights, shows / music / books we’ve been into. And as always, there is an option to donate to a featured charity. We promise, it’s going to be meatier than our other letters so far!
Sidenote: both of us also picked up several new hobbies! One of us has started making and bottling their own jams.
The other has returned to chess and dancing, and at every step discovered how gendered both of these are - ugh! Any other genderqueer chess players/dancers out there?
We were also featured (with a direct link!) in The Print! How cool is that?
How about you? Have you taken up anything new recently?
We hope you’re keeping your head above water - this is a difficult time for everybody, especially with the apocalyptic coronavirus case numbers in India. We’re sending as much strength and light as we can.
Hoping to see you soon,
Your friendly neighbourhood queers.
